Known simply as Soon to his friends, Nathaniel Wiley grew up in Nyack, NY. He received his BA degree in English and Philosophy from Connecticut College in 2009, and has recently been accepted into the MFA program at Wichita State University. He is the author of the short story "Water Children," which has the honor of being the first work accepted for publication by First Inkling.
During the review process for "Water Children" we had the opportunity to meet Wiley, and we quickly realized we needed to publish an interview with him. So we tasked Senior Associate Editor, Drew "The-Interview-Maverick" Grauerholz with sitting Wiley down and getting his story. At around 4:30 a.m., when we saw which way the wind was blowing, we sent in Associate Editor Alexa Johnson to keep the interlocutors on point, conscious, and out of a Mexican jail. The resulting dialogue was worth the legal fees.
